Joseph Lenthall in top form at the IPRA NSW Round 2

Joseph Lenthall bounced back in style at Round 2 of the 2026 NSW IPRA Championship, taking the overall Over 2 Litre victory in his BMW M3 after a huge weekend at the track.

Following further tuning and upgrades during testing, the M3 showed impressive pace from the outset, with Joseph securing pole position and setting a new personal best lap time in qualifying.

“Qualifying was good. Another PB, although I wasn’t entirely happy with the lap. The time is a reflection of the constant developments we’ve been making”.

Race 1 was unfortunately cut short by a safety car after an incident behind the leaders, where two regular competitors got tangled in the high-speed turn 1. Thankfully, both competitors were able to walk away. The extensive cleanup meant that Race 1 was deemed a non-event.

Race 2 delivered a breakthrough moment for Joseph with his first lights-to-flag victory.

“Race 2 was great, I’ve not led every lap of a race before, and I needed a little coaching on the radio, to maintain a consistent pace and keep focused on the job”.

Race 3 then produced one of the battles of the weekend, as Joseph and Round 1 winner Ben Algie traded positions in a fierce fight for the lead. Although a post-race penalty dropped Joseph to P2, the valuable pole position point helped secure the overall round win.

Ben Algie’s strong pace across the weekend earned him second overall and valuable championship points, while Dan Ridley continued his consistent start to the season with another third-place overall finish in Over 2 Litre.

In the Under 2 Litre category, Danny Castro remained unbeatable in 2026, claiming pole position and victory in every race so far this season. Charlie Viola rebounded from a difficult opening round to finish second overall, while returning 2012 NSW State Champion Bob Jowett rounded out the podium in third.

Round 3 of the IPRA NSW Championship returns to SMSP for its annual Day/ Night meeting on June 20th. A large contingent of very competitive cars from interstate are expected and should make it the most intense round of the year.

The result also capped off an exciting week for JLM Lubricants following the launch of its new car care range in Australia. Built for enthusiasts who demand premium performance and protection, the range is perfectly suited for everything from daily drivers to dedicated race cars, such as Joseph’s BMW M3.
